It is the beginning of a new year. We all can most definitely agree 2020 was hectic! Luckily, the new year brings along new beginings, new adventures and the opportunity to start fresh.

Now is the perfect time to rebrand your business, get a new email signature, redesign your website, and get more high quality customers with new lead generation. Trust Born Intelligence to help you with all these services! Get your business up and running and let us lead the way.

Change is always good! Why you might ask?
Don’t be afraid to update and change in your business. Change can lead to many positive things. It can lead to retaining a competitive edge and also remaining relevant in your business area. Change encourages innovation, develops skills, develops staff and leads to better business opportunities. Change is scary, we know! But the opportunities that arise from changing your point of view is out of this world!

The World is changing
We are in a world that is constantly changing. Technology is one of the things that change rapidly with new updates and trends coming to light. How are you going to keep up? You simply need to adapt to new technology. Our way of communication has changed, we use email, Facebook, Instagram and various other social platforms. (Gone are the days of fancy handwritten letters).

Designs and algorithms change constantly to ensure better user experience and safety online. That is why it’s so important to update your websites, apps and even how you communicate with your customers via social media or email. You need to remain on top. You need to fit in with the latest trends and why to communicate.

Tips to Change:

  • Redesign and develop your website.
  • Change your visuals on your platforms to be eye catching and appealing.
  • Make your website responsive and mobile friendly.
  • Refresh your SEO to attract new clients.
  • Rethink your keywords and targeting to improve overall conversion rates.

Change Means Growth Opportunities.
Change in business environments can allow you to explore new opportunities and exercise creativity in a way that will benefit you through new ideas and increase commitment. Get creative. Consider new strategies that will profit your business and expand your horizon. Dabble with new ways to get your business recognized. See what works for your business and what doesn’t, like trying out a Mobile app. Will the app benefit your company or not? Does it make life easier for your customers to find certain products or services. Try new things that you haven’t considered before. Maybe you have never tried email marketing. Now is the time to do it! Life and learn. That is the only way you will find out what works for your company. Let us help you explore new territory and lead a way to growth. Let us help to make your business more successful.

Customer Needs Are Constantly Evolving.
Customers now expect your business to always be open, especially with a swipe of a smartphone. The world evolves constantly and so do the customers. They demand new types of products and services. This opens up new areas of opportunities to meet their clients needs. You can look into new ways to attract these potential customers by using various types of marketing to showcase your products of services. Use social media and emails to promote your business. Make your customers excited and show that you can fulfil their needs. Increase your customer base by asking their opinions, maybe by sending an email or a survey. This will lead to the customers feeling more involved. Great service will lead to increased sales. Born Intelligence can help you come up with great ideas to keep your customers walking through that door.

Challenging The Status Quo
Ask the question “Why?”. Why don’t we have quality leads? Why aren’t we gaining any new customers? Asking these simple questions can lead to new innovations and new ideas. SO what might you be doing wrong? Is it the fact that you don’t know how to promote your business or keep up with the current trends. What can you improve to go beyond your current state and reach new heights. What can you do to be better than your competition? You should know your customers and what they want like if they are interested in good offers or want to know about the latest products. Inform them by sending out newsletters and changing for the better. Make everything you offer more appealing.

Staying On Top Of The Game
Just stay on top. Or if you aren’t then do something about it. Make something new. Let your brand identity stand out from all the rest. And how do you do it? Invest in advertisements to attract people to your product or services. Find new innovative ideas to promote yourself on social media like hosting a competition, while sending them to your website. Rethink your business. Try information leaflets or cards to create your personal brand and recognition.  Design a new billboard that will build brand awareness and broadcast your business to attract more people as possible. Start a campaign! This will establish your business credibility and sense of truth.

If you’re the kind of organization who understands the need for and the benefits of change, and you have a willingness to say yes, accept, and embrace change, then you will be the business which stands above the competition.

We can help you with your Corporate Identity, Print Advertisement Material, Website, Mobile APPs, Activations, Exhibitions and events, Signage, Brochures, Billboards, Escalator Branding, Information Leaflets and Cards, Social media and much much more! Unlock your business potential today by creating a brand for your business!

Wow what a year it has been?! 2020 was definitely not for the faint hearted (especially if you are a business owner)…

Although this year has been extremely difficult we have to say we’ve really been blessed beyond measure! A graceful Hand of protection and good health and  fortune was definitely cast over Born Intelligence in 2020.

Firstly, with the Covid-19 Pandemic came a vast range of challenges. Since March the team has been working remotely from their homes – facing all the new challenges that have come with that. (Trust us, getting work done between dogs barking and family members also being home – it’s challenging!) But here we are 10 months later (still working remotely), with new bornies (team members), new clients and new projects! How exciting!!!

OUR TEAM

Now as we head to 2021 we are armed with a new designer, new ad specialists, content writers and a NEW PROJECT MANAGER (yeah!).

Not only did our work team grow but the BORN family grew with a BABY BORNIE. His giggles and true Bornie style will soon fill the office as he has filled our hearts with love and joy. We can’t wait to see who he becomes and how he will change the world as a true Bornie does!

OUR CLIENTS & PROJECTS

We know that so many small and larger businesses unfortunately had to close their doors due to the pandemic, and we are truly saddened by it… BUT We have been blessed beyond measure that our company AND OUR CLIENTS survived this trying time and actually grew

We’ve had the opportunity to work on exciting projects throughout the year. With hard work and dedication from the team we obtained outstanding results for each client to help grow their businesses. From new customers to new websites, Apps, boasting on social media and even activations!

Here are some of our highlights for this year:

    1. Women in Business Campaign and Celebration
In August we celebrated Women’s Month together with the wonderful ladies of the BEC – Celia and Natalia – and Elite Inc’s Candice. We aimed to promote and empower Women in Business and celebrate the changes we have made in the world as women.
    2. Deonne Le Roux Jewellers
Our journey with Deonne Le Roux started in 2019 but in this past year we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to Redesign and Develop their website. We also had various Lead Generation Campaigns and even ventured on the journey of Influencer Marketing.
    3. Giant Coke Activation
Coca-Cola is one of our favourite International Brands to work with. We had the privilege of creating a GIGANTIC Interactive Brand Activation for them with our friends at Booming Media.
    4. Right Move Properties
Just before the pandemic restrictions started we travelled all the way to Namibia and signed our first international client! This was a REALLY BIG win for our team! Rightmove Properties is an award-winning real estate agency. We redesigned and developed their website along with lead generation campaigns to boost the sales of their Namibian based homes. This all happened with the collaboration with our friends from Leads for Africa.
    5. Broadening our horizon to the Solar Industry
Probably one of the ‘scariest’ things we did this year is advertise to a new industry. We ventured into the world of solar energy and it became part of our niche marketing sectors. (who would have thought the sun would shine so brightly on us).

Looking back at 2020, it was actually quite emotional to be honest. The year was really tough on all of us, emotionally, physically and mentality. We all had a life-changing year. But with hard work, dedication and compassion the Born Team pulled through and made Born Intelligence stronger than ever.

Now, 2021 is ahead of us. A new year with new possibilities and challenges. Luckily, we are armed with knowledge, understanding and hard lessons learned from this past year. We can conquer anything the world throws at us by working together.

Here is to a blessed year! May 2021 bring you new clients, new projects and may  you grow in strength to handle whatever the new year might bring!

Open for business? See why many shops in South Africa are staying open this holiday season

Looking to kick off a good year in 2021 for your business? Start in 2020.

This Christmas and holiday shopping season is going to look different than ever before, and so should your approach to keeping traffic and sales up. We’re taking a look at why businesses should keep the shop open in a month where typically many would close for the holidays.

Changing shopping habits, changing approaches

Typically, shopping done before the holidays is fit in between end-of-year meetings, holiday celebration events, children’s shows, family gatherings and more. But with many staying home or foregoing travel plans this year, the approach for business owners has changed, especially here in South Africa.

With holiday closures being the norm for South Africa in the weeks leading up to Christmas, you can make your offerings stand out with expanded hours, availability, new products or services, and increased marketing communication to your customers.

What is “time” in 2020?

Days turn into months, and suddenly, it’s Christmas. The rhythm of the holidays as we know it has changed, and that can throw people for a loop. But you and your business can be the answer to their last-minute gift needs, or the solution to the daily doldrums, something to look forward to, something to amplify how they experience life today.

Your audience is captive

For many, 2020 will be a year of staying at home, with your phone and computer never far away. Now is the time to increase frequency to your customer list and boost any paid advertising that targets your key audience. People are ready to shop, and may have put things off, or lost track of time and still want to get gifts to friends and family over the holiday.

Self-gifting is on the rise

With all the discomfort of the last year, customers are looking to treat themselves to something that makes our work-from-home life a little better. Think of comfortable clothes, slippers or sandals, coffee makers, mugs, cooking tools (because you can’t get take away every night). Even home improvement is on the rise as people look for ways to occupy their time together and take care of their long-running To Do list. If you can position your business as a solution to making home a better place to be stuck, or to offer treats and treasures to plus-up the daily grind, you have a strategy.

If boosting your end-of-year sales feels like the right move for your business, let’s talk. Our strategy and guidance can help you make the most of the last month of 2020, and lead you right into a successful new year.

5 Ways to Boost Your Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales (and no, it’s not too late!)

Black Friday is around the corner, but there’s still time to maximize your marketing strategy and boost your foot traffic or add-to-cart clicks. Because while the holiday season might look a little different this time around, shopping and deal-grabbing are still a big part of making this the most wonderful time of the year.

  1.     Don’t discount the discount

We all know a big discount offer is going to drive traffic to your product, so finding that special price point is of crucial importance. You want your shopper to feel like it’s something special, a deal they wouldn’t be able to get on any other day of the year, or from anyone else. Position your Black Friday or Cyber Monday promotions to your customers as something special or exclusive for them, almost as a thank you for being a part of your brand family.

  1.     Set your business apart from the rest

Big discounts aren’t always possible or prudent for your sales tactic, especially if your competitors are doing the same. In that case, add-ons can be an effective point of differentiation. This can be something extra included with the purchase that enhances your product or service, or relates to the holiday. You can also include an add-on that they need to come back to use, in a few weeks or months, like special ‘brand bucks’ or a percent off their next order. While your profit margins might get a little smaller on today’s sale, there are ways you can boost it with a return visit in the coming weeks or months ahead.

  1.     Create urgency

This is it, folks. The one, the only, the first, the last time this year that you’ll get a deal this good! The Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping holidays already have a built-in sense of urgency, so it’s a good idea to reinforce this with your messaging. You can send messages about a Count Down or It’s almost here! or Your surprise deal is waiting! This can set the stage for your follow up communications, either counting down, reminding them something special is still ‘under the tree’ or that the day is finally here!

  1.     Have some fun

While the deals are ‘urgent’ and will be gone when Black Friday or Cyber Monday are over, it’s important to have fun with it! We want to encourage shopping, not heart attacks. It’s like a waiting for the day of a big party you’ve been planning for a month. For some savvy shoppers, it’s a day that represents the big savings they’re always chasing. And for self-shoppers, this is a time of indulgence, where they purchase things they might not otherwise because it’s a ‘good deal’.

  1.     Go social

Since time is already running out, your marketing plan should be agile, and include your existing channels on social media as well as your email list. These will be key to getting your sales message out in a timely fashion without having to wait on ads to be served. And when you’re posting on your own channels, be sure to adjust your message based on response if you see something is working well (or not so well!). Something you can get a head start on is creating a content library of a handful of post ideas or images that can be circulated in the days leading up to Black Friday. Organize a calendar for your posting activities, but also be flexible and let your customers know you’re standing by to help them with all their shopping needs.

Born Intelligence, Black Friday, Black Friday 2020, Black Friday Sale, Black Friday Marketing, Black Friday Marketing Strategy, Ultimate Black Friday Marketing Strategy, Best Black Friday Marketing Strategy, Creative Black Friday Marketing Strategy, Cyber Monday, Christmas, Online, online shop, marketing, strategy, black friday marketing south africa, Deals, offers, promotions, specials, special offers,

As you know Black Friday is nowadays part of the annual retail market. In today’s world online shopping is the new go-to, which makes Cyber Monday ideal for big sales. However, interestingly enough most businesses forget about the biggest sale weekend of the year or they remember just before it happens. Either way not being prepared is the best way to miss this BIG sales opportunity or waste time and effort doing it badly.

In 2020, Black Friday is going to be more important than ever before! The Coronavirus pandemic has created a huge increase in online shopping and online marketing. As people haven’t been able to leave their homes for months on end the new custom has become to do almost all shopping online. In fact according to Statista some of the key changes between pre- and post-lockdown purchases increased by more than 40% in monthly online transactions just for essential groceries. These figures exclude clothing, appliances, furniture, accessories and other goods…

With this in mind, we’ve put together some ideas you can use to make sure you make the most of Black Friday 2020.

1. Add Black Friday to Your Online Marketing Strategy
This might sound a bit obvious, but as we said before, the biggest problem most small businesses have is, that they don’t plan ahead for Black Friday and by doing so they miss this big sale opportunity. Or they try to strategy a marketing plan last minute and put a lot of effort into something that just doesn’t work. Either way you miss a huge opportunity for your business. We recommend that you make time and plan ahead to reap the maximum benefits Black Friday and Cyber Monday has to offer.

Oh and by the way Black Friday is 27th November 2020 – just so you know.

2. Decide if Black Friday is Right for your Business
The thing with Black Friday is that everyone tries to jump on the boat to make the most sales over this festive season. But let’s be honest, Black Friday is just not for everyone. Instead of throwing money and effort into trying to make sales with a strategy that just doesn’t work, evaluate if it is actually right for your business. If you are a plaster, accountant, construction firm or insurance broker etc, then why are you trying to make Black Friday Sales? There are many more appropriate marketing opportunities around for you. Just because it is there doesn’t mean you have to be involved. Do what works for your business and industry.

3. Think Carefully About Your Black Friday Offers
If you are offering special discounts and offers to your customers over Black Friday you have to be very careful with what you offer. Did you know that Black Friday was actually created so that retailers could clear out stock to make way for new stock before Christmas? Therefore the majority of the products available are at the end of their lives – if we can call it that – and new versions will be available soon.

When you put together your deals and special offers you must think the same way. If you discount all you have then you’ll lose money for no good reason. Our expert advice is to discount the products you need to go and throw in a handful of offers then you’ll have a better financial injection whilst taking advantage of the promotion.

4. Don’t Give Customers A Way to Delay Their Purchase
Ever received a telesales call and you promised the sales agents that you will get back to them, but never called back or answered their calls? Yes, we’ve all been there. And that is exactly what you should avoid during Black Friday. Customers should have no way possible to delay their purchase. Uses phrases like ‘Last One Available’, ‘Only One Available’ or “Last chance Offer Ends Soon’. This will make the customer purchase immediately as they will fear to miss out on the deal.

Another point to consider is to not advertise all your deals too early. If customers see that you’ll have 50% off everything on Black Friday, they will wait until then to make the purchase. This will leave you with a low cash flow for the remainder of the month. So rather than offering 50% off everything, think about offering deals on selected items in the weeks or days leading up to Black Friday.

5. Be Online
As we discussed earlier Covid19 has changed the online world as we know it. Online sales are booming in 2020 and if your products are not online people won’t be purchasing it. Black Friday 2020 along with Cyber Monday will mainly occur online. This is due to people still avoiding in-store shopping and imagine the ques apart with social distancing – it’s going to be chaotic. Rather opt to be visible where your customers are shopping.

6. Do Something Different
You’ve shopped for Black Friday deals yourself right? Noticed how every Black Friday deal is similar? This company has 50% or even 70% discount on all items, another has exactly the same deals. There is a lot of noise on Black Friday, so the big question is HOW CAN YOU STAND OUT?

  • Perhaps you can launch a new product on Black Friday with a limited amount at a discount?
  • How about having a different product on sale on the days leading up to Black Friday?
  • Maybe you can bundle products at a discounted rate?
  • Have a selection of black coloured products? Discount only that range.

There are quite a few ways you can do Black Friday a bit different and stand out in the crowd. We trust that these ideas will add to your Black Friday Marketing Strategy and give you optimum results.

Who Needs Pants Anyway?

These last few months stuck in lockdown has literally changed the business world as we know it. No more getting up super early, getting dressed in uncomfortable clothes, or having to sit in traffic hours on end. Working from the comfort of your own home has been widely accepted as the new norm – AND WE LOVE IT!

Working from home means that all (or at least most) meetings and work are done digitally. Online platforms like Hangouts, Skype, Teams and Zoom have been used to communicate with co-workers and clients. This new form of communication has really showcased its benefits and people all over the world are definitely utilized it to its full potential.

However, these past few months many on screen bloopers have occurred in various meetings and even live TV. Now we know life happens! And dealing with daily struggles whilst working can be difficult – especially with a worldwide pandemic also lurking.

Behind every successful woman, is a man with no pants…

You are not alone! Everyone is facing some challenges balancing work life with personal life. Just think about it; how many times have your beloved cat walked straight in front of your camera? Or your dog just won’t stop barking? Not even to mention your children constantly wanting to talk to you either about their need to eat or a missing toy? Yeah, you are not alone!

Moms working from home will understand the struggle…

Another point to mention is that you are at home. You are in your safe haven where you are supposed to relax and unwind. Now your world is turned upside down and your sanctuary has become an office, school, entertainment centre and hospital all in one. Chaotic is probably the best way to describe the situation.

So we all are tempted towards laying in bed a little longer, only putting on a nice shirt, brushing your hair and possibly putting on some lipstick. And in 5 minutes you are ready to start your work day all in the comfort of your pj’s. Because who really needs pants if no one will see it?…

A ‘Zoom wardrobe’ is actually a thing! More and more people have opted for the exact same look. Business up top, party at the bottom! As long as you look professional and presentable on screen no one cares about the rest. So why should you sit in uncomfortable jeans or pants?

Business on Top, Party at the Bottom!

Important note: if you do wear the so comfy ‘Zoom wardrobe’, always make sure that your lower body is not on screen. Learn a lesson out of this funny blooper.

Bathroom Breaks Are Essential…

Need a little pick me up? Below are more of our favourite working from home bloopers. We hope it will put a smile on your face and help make working from home a bit better.

Coca-Cola Brand Activation

Visitors to Menlyn Mall Shopping Centre in Pretoria were getting more than they bargained for during their holiday shopping in December 2019…

The Born Team in collaboration with our friends at Booming Media Hotshots made this interactive Brand Activation for Coca-Cola. The activation was literally all about fun and games!

Coca-Cola is a fun brand, and the guys and gals at Coke love to interact with their consumers – we’ve seen that with our previous Coke activation.

This time we’ve upped the ante! Not just in interaction but in size too!  The activation set was a whopping size of 10 m x 16 m – probably one of the BIGGEST activations we have ever made. The outside was entirely covered with massive Coca-Cola branding and the inside was filled with specially crafted Coke branded games. The players could compete in various games for amazing prizes. The games involved cycling, puzzles and many more.

The interactive games were designed and developed around physical and mental strengths, whilst being fun and engaging.

Coca-Cola is a brand we love to work with, they love their consumers and are always looking for new ways to interact and connect with them.

This project definitely was one to be remembered.

If you are a brand looking for an activation and the chance to interact with your customers and capture leads. Provide your details below so we can discuss your dream.

Right Move Properties Website Redesign by Born Intelligence

Rightmove Properties Namibia was established in 2011 and is mainly focused on the real estate market in Windhoek and surroundings in Namibia. They specialize in selling and letting of residential, commercial and industrial properties. Their passion and commitment is reflected in the gratitude of their clients and the countless awards they have won as one of the top real estate agencies in Namibia.

Our paths with Rightmove crossed when we were on a business trip in Namibia. Originally we signed them up as a client for lead generation. As part of the Google lead generation strategy we had to develop landing pages for their various agents which were quick to load especially for mobile device. No one wants to wait more than 3 seconds for a page to load.. We achieved outstanding success with the campaigns.

Ultimately, Rightmove Properties decided to revamp their websites to fit the modern and sleek landing pages we designed for the campaigns.

The Challenge:

The Rightmove Properties website was outdated, elements were out of place and overall the navigation was not user-friendly at all. Some functions like the search bar did not work properly and the site was not mobile friendly. In general the style and look of the website was bland which added no excitement to the property listing site.

They wanted their website to represent their true qualities and match their award winning stature. All the flaws and outdated style needed to be updated to match the modern and sleek landing page designs whilst incorporating their brand  identity.

The website had to have all the major pages including the Home, About Us, Contact Us and the Properties pages. The property pages included listings that had all the relevant information of each property including images, property description, prices and Agent contact information.

Furthermore, the website had to be optimised for speed and performance with a high SEO rate. They wanted to obtain a higher conversion rate and a lower bounce rate.

To make the website redesign even harder, Rightmove wanted the website to be finalised in record time with a deadline of only one week

The Solution:

All the objectives that we had to meet were quite overwhelming and the deadline was a big concern throughout the process. The Born team collaborated and strategised various ideas to offer a solution to the challenging website redesign whilst ticking of all the boxes and over delivering.

Shanei – the head web designer – designed and conceptualised a complete overall of the website. The new design included exciting new features, brand colours coupled with stylish layouts that brought a new look and feel to their website.

The development team worked out a timeline to fit in the project and meet the pressing deadline. The new design was brought to life in record time with more than 120 pages built in only 2 days!!!

The Results:

The new updated design is slick and modern, perfectly tailored for a refreshed audience. The site is more user-friendly, the site speed and performance is beyond expectations and new features like an advanced search function and a currency converter was introduced.

Lorette, head of Rightmove Properties was so pleased with our work she recommended our services to an international leading magazine.

The Rightmove Properties website redesign and development was a exciting project to work on and we did it in excellence. We are so proud to have achieved the results we have and in the timeline we could achieve this. This project just showed us that no job is to big or small for our Born team.

2. Identify Your Business Niche and Audience

Give yourself permission to explore. Be willing to look at different facets of yourself (your personality, social styles, age) and listen to your intuition. We tend to ignore intuition even though deep down we often know the truth. Ask yourself “What gives me energy even when I’m tired?”

Decide the niche market you want to provide too and build your business solely around that. Don’t try to advertise yourself to everyone and hope to sell something. Shift your focus to only one niche and put all your effort into that. You’ll reap the benefits sooner than you think.

3. PLAN

Most people don’t plan, but it will help you get to market faster. A business plan will help you gain clarity, focus and confidence. A plan does not need to be more than one page. As you write down your goals, battle plans, strategies and action steps, your business becomes real.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What am I building?
  • Who will I serve?
  • What is the promise I am making to my customers/clients and to myself?
  • What are my objectives, strategies and action plans (steps) to achieve my goals?
  • Who will be helping me along this journey?
  • Who will be my support network?

4. Brand Yourself

The way people see your business can have an enormous effect on how they perceive your products or services. Ensure that you create a corporate identity that speaks for your business and showcase your core values without even trying.

Invest in a professionally designed corporate identity that includes your letterheads, business cards, logo, packaging and everything in between. Trust me, it makes a HUGE difference.

5. Build a Support Network

Having people you can turn to for help is so important, even more so in business. One of the things I’ve learned along the way is the importance of cultivating a network of supporters, advisors, partners, allies and vendors. If you believe in your business, others will too. Network locally, nationally and via social networks. Join networks such as your local chamber of commerce or other relevant business groups.

I can hook you up with the best business network!

When attending seminars, expos and other events, ask others what they do and start building relationships with those people. You might be able to offer them your services or you might end up needing theirs. The more you build your network and relationships the more you will be top of mind when someone needs your services.

6. Don’t just Sell a Product

This is probably the most important tip on the table! Don’t just sell  a product, offer a value added item that people invest in. Each day we all purchase products and services, but what are those things that stand out that keeps us buying? Focus on offering your customers something that adds value to them and makes their lives easier.

Serve them with something they will build value in their lives. Think of what you can offer alongside the main product. What can you offer that will help your customer achieve their goal even more. This approach can help lead you to new ways to refine your products and services and deliver more value, which your customer will appreciate and it will make them say yes more often to the product offering.

7. Be the Social Butterfly
